Austin Vet Hospital is seeking an Assistant Hospital Manager (AHM) to join our fast-paced six-doctor practice. Job Summary:

-       The AHM is a leader and integral part of the veterinary hospital’s management team. The AHM partners with the Hospital Manager (HM) to provide smooth hospital operations and assumes managerial responsibility for the hospital’s operations in the HM’s absence.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

-       Oversees day-to-day operations including addressing client concerns, resolving staff conflict, managing inventory, paying invoices, and creating schedules.

-       Responsible for all administrative aspects such as DEA and OSHA compliance, tracking all team licensing, and more.

-       Partner with HM to address HR functions such as hiring, disciplinary action, termination, and learning and development opportunities.

-       Utilize computer systems to operate practice management software, run financial reporting, and complete payroll as needed.

-       Support the HM in strategic work such as annual pricing and budget work, DVM hiring and retention, and team engagement & development.

-       Demonstrates and reinforces the highest level of customer service, resolves client issues and escalations in a graceful, but fair manner.

-       In addition to supporting the HM with tasks such as onboarding and training, standard operation procedure (SOP) creation and implementation, coordination of staff meetings and training sessions, there will also be assistance with managing the team leaders and tasks such as (but not limited to) shift coverage when needed, client service and communication, inventory management and ordering, plus administrative and financial duties.

 

Qualifications:

-       Associates degree or above is preferred

-       Supervisory experience is preferred.

-       Veterinary hospital experience is required.

 

Knowledge and/or experience in the following areas:

-       Manage time and tasks appropriately and remain flexible with assigned duties.

-       Ability to take action and work independently.

-       Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

-       Willing to learn financial and data analysis, as well as new software & applications.
