Job Title: Associate Veterinarian
Job Location: East Amherst, New York
Rate of Pay: $83,637.00 to $130,000.00 per Year
Duties: Responsibilities include: Perform physical examinations and diagnostic, medical, surgical and dental procedures that deliver the highest quality care while minimizing patient stress and discomfort. Advance the quality of medicine in the practice and provide exceptional client service to clients and patients. Build rapport with clients by gathering information and listening to, and empathizing with their concerns. Communicate with clients on topics such as pet diagnosis, treatment plans, preventive health care, and nutritional needs. Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and makes certain all necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols. Stay current on new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine. Assist in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service. Present a positive image of the clinic in the professional community and to the general public.
Requirements: Employer will accept a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or foreign equivalent and one year of clinical practicum experience. Position requires experience with: 1. Practicing preventive care medicine and interpreting lab-work, including bloodwork, radiographs, ultrasound, cytology; 2. Managing acute and chronic conditions for a beneficial outcome to the pet and owners; 3. Performing thorough physical exams of several species including canines, felines, lagomorphs, rodents, and other domestic species to identify normal and abnormal findings, and addressing these concerns accordingly; 4. Utilization of surgical techniques commonly performed in general practice including, but not limited to ovariohysterectomy, orchidectomy, and mass removals; 5. Performing emergency first response and stabilization techniques for domestic species; 6. Utilizing knowledge of veterinary dentistry for canines and felines, including interpreting dental radiographs and performing simple and complex extractions for single rooted and multiple rooted teeth.
License Requirements: Candidate must be a graduate from an AVMA accredited college or have successfully passed the ECFVG certification program or the PAVE certification program. Must be eligible for state licensure.
