Job Title: Daycare and Boarding Attendant
Department: Resort / Boarding & Daycare
Reports To: Resort Manager / Practice Manager

Position Summary

The Daycare and Boarding Attendant is responsible for providing safe, attentive, and compassionate care to dogs, cats, and other boarding guests. This role focuses on supervising group play, maintaining a clean and low-stress environment, monitoring health and behavior, and creating a positive experience for both pets and their people.


Key Responsibilities

Animal Care & Supervision

  • Safely supervise group play in daycare, following facility guidelines for introductions and play groups.

  • Monitor pets for signs of stress, illness, injury, or behavioral changes and report concerns promptly.

  • Provide individual attention, enrichment, and affection to boarding and daycare pets.

  • Feed pets according to owner instructions and facility protocols, including special diets and medications (if trained and authorized).

  • Provide walks, potty breaks, and appropriate litter box care and enrichment for cats and other species.

Boarding & Daycare Operations

  • Assist with check-in and check-out of boarding and daycare guests, confirming services, feeding instructions, medications, and emergency contacts.

  • Accurately label, store, and return personal belongings (leashes, food, bedding, medications, etc.).

  • Follow daily schedules for feeding, playtime, rest periods, and cleaning.

  • Assist with basic services such as baths or nail trims if offered and trained to do so.

Cleaning & Sanitation

  • Clean and disinfect kennels, runs, daycare rooms, litter boxes, and common areas according to protocols.

  • Immediately clean up accidents using appropriate disinfectants and PPE.

  • Wash dishes, bedding, and towels; keep work areas neat, organized, and well-stocked.

  • Help ensure the facility is clean, odor-free, and welcoming for clients and pets.

Client Service & Communication

  • Greet clients warmly and provide a professional, friendly experience at drop-off and pick-up.

  • Communicate clearly about pet behavior, appetite, stool/urination, and any incidents or concerns.

  • Follow policies regarding late pick-ups, add-on services, special handling, and safety rules.

  • Represent the facility’s values and maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

Teamwork & Safety

  • Follow all safety protocols for animal handling, including safe restraint, separation, and use of equipment.

  • Collaborate with coworkers to complete tasks and maintain smooth daily operations.

  • Participate in training and staff meetings as required.

  • Comply with all policies and procedures, including incident reporting, infection control, and workplace safety.


Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with animals (daycare, boarding, shelter, grooming, or vet clinic) preferred but not required.

  • Comfortable handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments; experience with cats and small animals is a plus.

  • Ability to recognize basic animal body language and follow behavior/safety guidelines.

  • Strong attention to detail and time-management skills in a fast-paced environment.

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Good communication and customer service skills.


Schedule & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and peak boarding times.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to [X] lbs (e.g., 40–50 lbs) throughout the shift.

  • Comfortable working around noise, cleaning chemicals, and various animal smells.
