Job Description: We are seeking flexible, well-rounded experienced (2+year) Veterinary Technicians and CVTs in Surgery, Anesthesia and General Practice for various shifts including (but not limited to) morning, afternoon, evenings, holidays, and weekend positions at our hospital. You will be working in a fast-paced environment and will need to be proficient in veterinary nursing skills and willing to lead surgery, orthopedic surgeries and instruments.

About Us: NVA Animal Medical Center of Plainfield provides General Practice for pets to include wellness, disease management, sick, outpatient, general surgical and orthopedic needs. We service the entire Southwest suburbs of Chicago and our growing 13-doctor practice not only offers general practice but also emergency services. We also offer ER surgical services such as caesarians, ingested foreign body removal, GVD surgery, laceration repair and any other procedures that cannot wait until the primary care veterinarian's office is open and available through our emergency department that our GP works side by side with. We are equipped with 2 state of the art surgical suites, dual dental suites, 2 isolation wards for canines and a separated feline isolation ward, a large canine hospitalization ward and separated feline ward and 20 exam rooms! We offer in house abdominal and focused Ultrasounds through our in house Ultrasound technician and more!

Desired Skills: Medical history taking, managing appointments, familiar with medications, attention to detail on entering charges and checking medical records, cleaning exam rooms. Checking-in surgical patients, opening, turning over and cleaning operating rooms, as well as cleaning instruments and wrapping packs, perioperative surgical nursing skills and post-operative surgical nursing skills and anesthesia monitoring proficiency. Phlebotomy and catheter placement, knowledge of radiology safety and proper technique, ICU nursing skills, experience operating fluid pumps and maintaining IV sets.

Clinic hours are: General Practice hours are:

7 days a week: 8am to 6pm (currently excluding Sundays until further notice, but you may be required to work Sundays as needed supporting our ER department)

Daytime, afternoon, evening and weekend shifts available. Flexible shifts ranging 6-hours to 10 hours.

Emergency Department is 24/7 including holidays. If you're interested in applying to the ER department please note that this does require some overnights.

Salary: TBD dependent on experience/knowledge.

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Plainfield, IL 60544: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

  • State Certified Veterinary Technician license 2 year (preferred)
  • Veterinary Experience: 3 years (required)
  • Surgery, anesthesia and intubation: 2 year (required)
  • Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc)
  • Excellent client communication skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish (not required but highly desirable)
