Emergency Department Medical Director – SAGE Campbell

SAGE Campbell is seeking an experienced ER Medical Director to join a busy, well-established hospital where you can make a real impact on patient care and team growth. This role is a great fit for a supportive, hands-on leader who enjoys mentoring others, collaborating with clinicians, and helping the hospital continue to thrive.

 

Your Role

As ER Medical Director, you will balance strategic leadership with hands-on clinical care. You will:

  • Oversee ER medical standards, protocols, and quality initiatives
  • Partner with the Hospital Director and Specialty Medical Director on operations, recruitment, and long-term planning
  • Guide and support experienced ER doctors while helping to mentor new ER doctors through our ER Immerse mentorship program
  • Drive positive change, support team development, and maintain a collaborative, accountable culture
  • Strengthen relationships with referring veterinarians and the local community
  • Duty split: ~75% clinical/ ~25% administrative
    • 4-day workweek with 3 clinical days and 1 admin day
 

What We’re Looking For

  • DVM or equivalent; eligible for California licensure
  • 4+ years of clinical experience in a multi-specialty hospital with 2+ years in a leadership role
  • Strong leadership skills with confidence in change management and addressing complex issues
  • Passion for mentorship, professional development, and medical excellence
  • Solutions-oriented, collaborative, and decisive

  • Quality diagnostics and treatment offerings including full onsite lab, specialty or radiology level ultrasound 6 days per week, POCUS, ventilator support, high flow oxygen, access to CT scan
  • Enjoy down-the-hall access to our amazing Internal Medicine, Neurology, Surgery, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Anesthesiology, and Physical Rehabilitation departments.

Campbell, CA, is a charming city located in the metropolitan area of the South Bay Area, just north of the redwood forests of the Santa Cruz Mountains and within an hour’s drive to the ocean.
