Emergency Veterinarian – Premier Veterinary Group, Mundelein, IL

Premier Veterinary Group, located in Mundelein, Illinois, is adding an additional experienced Emergency Veterinarian to our team. We are also looking to expand our per diem pool with talented ER doctors interested in flexible, collaborative opportunities.


We’re ideally situated between two major cities, just one hour north of Chicago and one hour south of Milwaukee, without the high cost of big-city living.

We offer excellent full-time schedules of only 12 shifts per month so you can get your balance and life back!

About Our Team

What We’re Looking For

Experience:
• At least 2 years of emergency experience (or completion of an internship)

Skillset:
• Clinical expertise in stabilizing and treating urgent and emergent cases (GDV, respiratory distress, polytrauma, acute neuro events)
• Strong procedural skills (POCUS, wound/laceration repair, NG tube placement, CPR)
• Diagnostic judgement in interpreting radiographs, lab work, and ECGs in real time
• Leadership—comfortable triaging caseloads, making swift decisions, and guiding support staff
• Collaborative approach with specialists and technicians to ensure seamless patient care and client communication
• Mentorship mindset—support externs and ER technicians through modeling and teaching
• Client communication skills—empathetic, clear, and confident

 

Shifts Available

  • Full-Time DVM: Overnights only or combination of overnight and swing shifts options
    • Per Diem DVM: day/swing/overnight, weekday and weekend shifts available depending on PTO/sick leave, we are open to expanding our ER relief pool!
