Job Description

Emergency Medicine Veterinarian | Be a Founding Member of Our New 24/7 ER Team!

Are you passionate about emergency medicine? Midwest Animal Hospital is expanding in 2026 to launch a comprehensive 24-hour Emergency & Critical Care service, and we’re seeking skilled, dedicated Emergency Veterinarians to join us at the ground level.

Why Join Midwest Animal Hospital?

A Growing, Collaborative Team: We’re proud to have a team of 15 general practice doctors and to host several DVM student externships each year. While we’re not a formal teaching hospital, we cherish the opportunity to support and mentor future veterinarians in a welcoming, team-oriented environment.

Comprehensive Services: Our busy hospital offers a full spectrum of general practice care including preventative medicine, dental care, reproduction, acupuncture, rehabilitation, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, boarding, grooming, and daycare.

Make an Impact: Provide life-saving emergency and critical care daily in a fast-paced, supportive environment that values your expertise and well-being.

Flexible Scheduling: Choose from 3x12 or 4x10-hour shifts with a mix of day, swing, and overnight options - no mandatory overnight-only schedules unless you want them! Typically 2 weekends/month with options for 1. We build schedules thoughtfully, with days off to recover between night and day shifts.

Competitive Compensation: ProSal Model with base ranges of $140k–$150k for new grads and $160k–$175k+ for experienced ER vets. Plus, a $20k+ sign-on bonus, relocation assistance, and student loan repayment options.

Advanced Resources: Access cutting-edge diagnostics and surgical tools, including digital radiology, CT scan, ultrasound with certified techs, endoscopy, and laser therapy.

Professional Growth: Tailored mentorship programs and a generous CE allowance including support to attend the IVECCS conference annually. Collaborate daily with specialists in orthopedics, rehab, acupuncture, and more.

Supportive Culture: Work alongside a large, experienced, and collaborative team that prioritizes respect, teamwork, and work/life balance. Your well-being matters as much as your patients’!

Your Role:

Perform hands-on emergency medicine and soft tissue surgery cases like GDVs, foreign body removals, splenectomies, lacerations, and amputations.

Help shape our new ER protocols, culture, and workflows - your input will be valued and impactful.

Life in Orland Park, IL:

Enjoy the best of suburban living with spacious neighborhoods, beautiful parks, hiking trails, vibrant restaurants, and boutique shopping - all just 40 minutes from downtown Chicago.
