Job Description
Equine Sports Medicine Veterinarian – Parkland, Florida
Join the EVC Team in the Sunshine State
About Us
Equine Veterinary Care (EVC) is a progressive, multi-location equine sports medicine practice rooted in excellence, collaboration, and compassionate care. Our flagship facility is based at the world-class Fair Hill Training Center in Elkton, Maryland, where we serve a diverse population of Thoroughbred racehorses and performance horses across MD, PA, and DE.
Now, we’re bringing EVC’s high standard of equine care to Parkland, Florida, just south of Wellington—an area that combines the excitement of Standardbred racing with the sophistication of English performance horse sport. While this location is new to EVC, it supports an already established and loyal client base, offering a smooth transition into a thriving, well-rounded caseload of approximately 60% Standardbred racing and 40% English performance horses.
The Opportunity
We’re seeking a motivated and skilled Equine Sports Medicine Veterinarian to lead and grow our Florida satellite location. This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in a hands-on, client-focused environment and enjoys the variety of both racetrack and sport horse work. You’ll benefit from the autonomy of a locally based position while having the full backing and collaboration of EVC’s experienced Maryland team for case consultations, mentorship, and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Work: Perform lameness evaluations, imaging, joint therapies, regenerative treatments, and other performance medicine procedures for both racing and sport horses.
- Ambulatory Services: Provide on-farm and track-side care, including wellness exams, diagnostics, dentistry, and emergency services.
- Client Relationships: Maintain and strengthen trusted partnerships with existing trainers, owners, and barn managers through consistent communication and dependable service.
- Collaboration: Partner with EVC veterinarians across both locations to share expertise, resources, and best practices.
- Emergency Coverage: Participate in a shared on-call rotation, with flexibility to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
Qualifications
- DVM/VMD or equivalent, eligible for licensure in Florida
- Experience or strong interest in equine sports medicine, preferably with racing or performance horse focus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong diagnostic and therapeutic competency
- Self-motivated with a team-oriented, collaborative mindset
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation (commensurate with experience) & relocation assistance
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Licensing fees, AAEP, and AVMA memberships covered
- $3,000 annual CE allowance
- PLIT coverage
- 401(k) plan
- Mentorship and professional development support through the EVC network
- Balanced schedule with flexibility and autonomy
About the Area
Our Parkland location offers access to South Florida’s thriving equine scene—minutes from Wellington’s world-renowned hunter/jumper and dressage circuits, and within easy reach of major Standardbred training centers. The area combines the best of both worlds: sunshine and palm trees alongside an active, supportive equestrian community.
Whether you’re drawn to the excitement of the track, the precision of sport horse medicine, or the chance to help shape a growing practice, EVC in Parkland offers a rare opportunity to do it all—with the full backing of an established, respected team.
