Equine Veterinary Care (EVC) is a progressive equine sports medicine practice located at the world-class Fair Hill Training Center in Elkton, Maryland. We specialize in Thoroughbred and performance horse care, offering both clinic-based and ambulatory services across MD, PA, and DE. Our facility provides advanced diagnostics, treatment, and intermediary care—including fluid therapy for impaction colics, minor surgeries, lameness workups, and therapeutic modalities. We maintain strong collaborative relationships with leading referral hospitals in the Mid-Atlantic region.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Equine Sports Medicine Veterinarian to join our team, with a focus on ambulatory farm and sport horse care. This position is ideal for someone with a strong interest in equine sports medicine who enjoys building client relationships, working collaboratively, and delivering high-quality, hands-on care in both clinic and field settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Work: Perform lameness evaluations, diagnostics, joint injections, regenerative therapies, and other treatments both in the field and at our clinic.
- Ambulatory Services: Provide on-farm care to a wide spectrum of patients from equine athletes to beloved ponies within a 45-minute radius, including sports medicine services, general wellness, dentistry and emergency care.
- Client Communication: Build trusted relationships with owners, trainers, and farm managers through excellent service, follow-up, and education.
- Collaborative Case Management: Work with colleagues and referral hospitals on complex or specialized cases as needed.
- Continued Learning: Stay current on advancements in equine sports medicine and participate in continuing education.
- Emergency Coverage: Participate in a shared, rotating on-call schedule for after-hours emergencies.
Qualifications
- DVM/VMD or equivalent, eligible for licensure in DE, MD, & PA
- Experience or strong interest in equine sports medicine and ambulatory practice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Competency in equine diagnostics and therapeutics
- Team-oriented mindset with a proactive and positive attitude
