Job Description

Chaparral Veterinary Medical Center is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic equine surgeon to join our collaborative team. We are a full-service equine referral center providing 24-hour emergency, critical care, and surgical services, along with ambulatory care for our local client base.

This role offers the opportunity to join a multi-specialty equine referral hospital with a strong and varied surgical case volume, balancing elective and emergency procedures alongside collaborative case management with referring veterinarians. The ideal candidate is DACVS or DACVS-board eligible and brings strong clinical skills, a team-oriented and adaptable approach, and excellent communication with both clients and colleagues. Call responsibilities are shared among specialists within a flexible structure designed to support sustainability and work-life balance.


About Chaparral

Established in 1971, Chaparral Veterinary Medical Center is the largest 24-hour equine referral hospital serving the greater Phoenix and Scottsdale region. Our state-of-the-art facility includes:

  • Two equine surgical suites with padded induction and recovery rooms
  • Standing MRI and nuclear scintigraphy
  • Full-service radiology, ultrasound, and resting/dynamic endoscopy
  • 12-stall equine ICU and a dedicated isolation facility
  • On-site laboratory and advanced diagnostic capabilities

You will join a veterinary team that includes two other DACVS surgeons, one DACVIM, multiple ambulatory veterinarians, and a robust technical and support staff.
