Duties

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures with animal restraint and handling.
  • Perform laboratory tests, prepare samples, and operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines to aid in accurate diagnosis.
  • Maintain detailed records of animal treatments, laboratory results, and patient histories with precision and attention to detail.
  • Manage kennel duties including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring animals’ health status to ensure their comfort and safety.
  • Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology, assisting with pet grooming, and performing animal husbandry tasks.
  • Handle pet care responsibilities such as administering medications, applying aseptic techniques during procedures, and caring for animals post-operation.
  • Operate specialized equipment including animal catheterization tools, X-ray machines, and laboratory instruments while adhering to safety protocols.

Skills

  • Proven kennel experience combined with strong animal husbandry skills to ensure optimal pet care.
  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and critical care practices.
  • Experience with dog handling techniques, dog training basics, pet grooming, and animal restraint methods.
  • Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment used in diagnostic testing.
  • Ability to perform veterinary technician duties involving animal catheterization and aseptic techniques confidently.
  • Understanding of equine experience is a plus for clinics that handle larger animals or farm calls.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and educate pet owners on health care needs.
