Front End Developer, Digital Experience

Ethos Veterinary Health

Job Description

About the Role

We are a multi-billion-dollar leader in the veterinary care industry with over 140 specialty and emergency hospitals. We are dedicated to improving the lives of pets and the people who love them. Our brands connect with millions of pet parents through thoughtful design, compelling storytelling, and customer-centric digital experiences.

We are seeking a Front End Developer to build and evolve modern, high-performance digital experiences across our clinic websites and post-login client applications. This role works primarily in a TypeScript-first front-end stack, building applications in Next.js and integrating with a headless CMS (Contentful) and internal APIs.

You will partner closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver scalable, accessible, and maintainable user experiences that serve pet owners, veterinary professionals, and internal stakeholders.

This is a hands-on role for someone who cares deeply about front-end architecture, performance, and code quality — not just visual polish.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain modern front-end applications using TypeScript and Next.js
  • Develop CMS-driven experiences powered by Contentful and other internal content sources
  • Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate GraphQL and REST APIs
  • Partner with UX/UI designers to implement designs from Figma, ensuring fidelity, usability, and accessibility
  • Optimize applications for performance, SEO, and accessibility (WCAG)
  • Contribute to front-end architecture decisions, including component patterns, state management, and rendering strategies
  • Participate in code reviews, enforcing front-end best practices and consistency
  • Troubleshoot and resolve front-end issues across browsers and devices
  • Support ongoing enhancements and technical debt reduction in existing applications
  • Work within an Agile delivery environment using Jira and cross-functional ceremonies

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional front-end development experience
  • Expert knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Strong experience with modern frameworks such as React (preferred), Angular, or Vue
  • Proficiency in responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and mobile-first development
  • Experience working with RESTful APIs and collaborating with back-end services
  • Familiarity with state management solutions (Redux, Context API, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of web performance optimization techniques
  • Experience using version control systems (Git) and modern build tools
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with design systems and component-based architectures
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG, ADA compliance)
  • Experience supporting CMS-driven, multi-site architectures
  • Familiarity with Azure-hosted front-end deployments
  • Experience with monitoring or error tracking tools (e.g., Sentry)
  • Experience working in regulated or healthcare-adjacent industries
  • Familiarity with analytics tools such as Amplitude or Google Analytics
  • Exposure to React Native or shared web/mobile component patterns

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a mission-driven organization improving veterinary care and animal health at scale
  • Work on meaningful products used by millions of pet owners and veterinary professionals
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits
  • Flexible work arrangements (remote or hybrid)
  • Opportunity to work on high-visibility, consumer-facing digital products
  • Career growth within a globally recognized, mission-driven company
  • Collaborative and inclusive engineering culture
