The Opportunity 

We’re growing our HR team at NVA Canada! Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, our successful HR Generalist (Canada West) will act as a trusted advisor to our Hospital Operations teams and practice leaders across our Canada West hospital locations. You will support a variety of hospital leadership teams to provide exceptional people support, while also working closely with the broader people team on a variety of projects and initiatives. You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as a knack for addressing complex employee issues with the confidence to go against the grain when needed. You thrive in a fast-paced and changing environment, with a blend of creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking skills. Please note: We are open to applicants anywhere in Canada however this role will support PST and EST time zones.

What you will do: 

  • - Oversee and provide day to day HR support, guidance, and advice related to employee relations, performance consulting, people development, and employment legislation 

  • - Own and oversee complex employee relations issues including guidance to fair and legal resolutions, performance management, and terminations 

  • - Partner with leadership to review people development and improvement plans to support and enhance employee performance and development 

  • - Facilitate investigations into discrimination, harassment, or other labour law complaints, ensuring proper process and documentation 

  • - Maintain knowledge and understanding of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources and employment law 

  • - Collaborate with the Operations teams to create workplace policies and procedures to ensure compliance with labour laws 

  • - Work closely with the HR Leadership team to understand regional hospital needs and collaborate on relevant programs and initiatives 

  • - Post open jobs and manage the applicant pipeline for open positions related to Corporate Recruitment. 

  • - Act as the first contact point for HR support requests, such as policy/procedure interpretation, exit interviews, and employee relations issues and route to appropriate person/team. 

  • - Prepare various administrative correspondences, which can include; employment letters, merit increase letters, bonus letters, new hire packages, STD correspondence and process employee status changes, including promotions, transfers, and terminations. 

  • - Responsible for creating, maintaining and updating Human Resources information, processes and tools on intranet so that appropriate and up to date materials are available to our Community, ie: onboarding program, templates and other resources that support 

  • - Manage confidential files and other privileged information in a professional manner 

 

You’ll be great in this role if: 

  • - You have 3+ years as an HR Generalist or equivalent experience 

  • - You are a natural people person and people feel comfortable coming to you. You thrive in your ability to build and foster high trust relationships 

  • - You are driven and action oriented and you approach each situation with energy and enthusiasm 

  • - You are a dot connector and have a knack for problem solving by digging deep into a problem to make an informed decision  

  • - You have exceptional time management and organizational skills

  • - You love to embrace new ideas and challenges. You are highly accountable and deliver on your commitments.  

 

It’s a bonus if you have: 

  • - Experience working in the veterinarian or dental and healthcare industries, or retail and hospitality management 

  • - CHRP is considered an asset  

  • - Familiarity with MS Suite and Ceridian Dayforce
