Kennel Assistant

The Kennel Assistant plays a vital role in the care of our patients who require an overnight stay and is responsible for feeding, watering, bathing and exercising all animals according to their schedule and needs.

Job Requirements/ Skills/ Physical Demands

An employee in this position must have a sense of compassion & caring for animals, be able to lift approximately 50 pounds, walk dogs of up to 130 pounds.

Essential Functions

·         Provide compassionate care for pets

·         Monitor and report physical signs of hospitalized/boarded pets

·         Maintain hospital facilities including cleaning cages, runs, boarding area, break room & bathroom.

·         Feed and care for hospitalized/boarded pets as needed

·         Must be comfortable handling dogs, cats and occasionally other small animals

·         Exercise hospitalized/boarded dogs as needed

·         Bathe pets as needed/required

·         Maintain laundry

·         Wash and sanitize pet dishes

·         Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Basic Qualifications

·         Prior experience with animals, personal or professional, required

·         Basic veterinary medical knowledge, including products and services preferred

·         Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task and still attend to details

·         Work Authorization required for candidates under 18 years of age

 

Hours & Pay:

Typical shifts 6:30am-8:30am with occasional evening shifts.

Compensation range for this position: $13-15 Depending on experience.
