Job Description
Island Animal Hospital is seeking an employee for a kennel assistant. This individual must be responsible, hard-working, detail-oriented and have a passion for the care and well-being of animals. A desire to provide exceptional customer service is also required. This person would be in charge of the care of pets in the boarding kennel on a daily basis.
Job Description, Requirements and Responsibilities for this position include:
- Physical ability to lift up to approximately 50 pounds and walk dogs of up to 130 pounds
- Provide compassionate care for all pets
- Check in/out boarders
- Feeding/watering animals
- Cleaning dog suites and cat condos
- Cleaning floors
- Cleaning the boarding areas
- Doing laundry
- Washing and sanitizing all pet dishes
- Responsible for charting and ensuring daily activities of animals being boarded are completed
- Responsibility to observe good health and hygiene practices/procedures including disinfection, cleaning and maintaining all indoor and outdoor boarding areas
- Observe and report any animal abnormalities to management
- Administer medications to boarding pets
- Help pet owners in or out with their pets
- Speak with pet owners about the status of their pets during boarding
- Supervising and monitoring behavior of pets in outdoor play area
- Responsible for maintenance of equipment and grounds as directed by management
- Other duties may be required at the discretion of management
The ideal candidate for this position would have prior kennel experience.
