Sumner Veterinary Hospital is seeking team members to join our fabulous crew of Kennel Technicians. The ideal applicant understands that taking care of many pets is a sometimes dirty, physical job that requires patience and diligence, but is so rewarding in that you get to provide such valuable and necessary care our furry clients. Candidates must also understand that their regular attendance for scheduled shifts is of paramount importance, as these fur babies rely on you to take care of them.

Daily duties as a kennel tech include:

·         Sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning kennels, washing dishes and doing laundry

·         Regular use of chemicals in cleaning tasks, such as bleach and dish soap

·         Feeding , medicating, walking and bathing both dogs AND cats

·         Facilitating individual and group plays, and being responsible for managing the behaviors of dogs in a group environment

·         Cleaning up after potty breaks, both inside the kennel and outside in potty yards. Cleaning cat litter boxes.

·         Regular work outside in play yards, as well as inside in a noisy environment

The ideal candidate will have stamina and be able to work on their feet for 8 hour shifts, be able to lift 30 lbs unassisted, and have excellent attention to detail. A large part of what we do in kennels is routine, but we need personalities that can flex and adapt to changes in situations.

We pride ourselves on providing excellent care, and continue to implement better ways to care and comfort the pets in our facility. As a member of our team, you will have access to a tenured staff with many years of experience and years of training in animal behavior and health. We will teach you how to read animal behavior signals, how to identify and look for signs of illness or parasites in pets, and how to medicate and handle pets safely.

Our Full Time positions consist of a 5 day work week, with at least one weekend day each week. Schedules are generally set and will be the same week over week.

    • Base hourly rate of $16.66- $18.00 DOE
