Animal Health Center, located in the heart of Madison, MS is seeking an experienced Kennel Manager to lead our boarding facility.  

We are a full-service, small animal hospital dedicated to providing innovative, compassionate care to the city of Madison and surrounding areas. As Kennel Manager, you would be responsible for training, supervising, planning, and coordinating a variety of service functions that are related to the direct supervision of your team. Your daily functions include, but are not limited to, providing the basic needs of animals being groomed, boarded, or patients with medical appointments, including cleaning of cages, runs, and ward areas in the hospital. This position involves basic husbandry, bathing, and grooming, while carefully monitoring the well-being of our patients and boarding residents in the facility. The Kennel Manager operates under the supervision of the Hospital Manager. 

Responsibilities 

  • Oversee daily kennel operations, ensuring the well-being and proper care of all animals.  

  • Provide strong leadership and supervision to kennel assistants.  

  • Create employee schedules for the kennel department that align with the needs of the hospital. 

  • Manage staff, providing training in animal handling and restraint techniques.  

  • Develop and implement pet care protocols, including feeding, grooming, and exercise routines.  

  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards within the kennel environment.  

  • Address customer inquiries and provide exceptional service to pet owners.  

  • Monitor animal health and report any concerns to veterinary staff as needed. 

Qualifications 

  • Proven kennel experience and strong animal handling skills  

  • 2-5 years of pet resort or kennel experience  

  • Previous leadership experience is desired 

  • Proficient in animal restraint and pet care techniques  

  • Knowledge of dog training and veterinary practices is a plus  

  • Experience in customer service and ability to lift heavy animals  

  • Veterinary technician or assistant experience is highly desirable
