About Us:

Black Dog Veterinary Services in beautiful Bozeman, MT is seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Surgical Technician to join our dedicated team. We are a progressive small animal hospital offering advanced surgeries, dentistry, innovative treatments, and integrative care.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in the OR, is confident in anesthesia, surgical assistance, and dentals, and wants to play a key role in training and developing the next generation of veterinary professionals.

What You’ll Do: As our Lead Surgery Technician, you will play a hands-on role in patient care while also leading, training, and supporting our technician team. Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring anesthesia and assisting in advanced surgeries
  • Performing dental cleanings and taking dental radiographs
  • Working side by side with the surgery doctor to determine surgical flow and priorities
  • Delegating tasks to ensure efficiency and patient safety
  • Mentoring and training technicians and assistants
  • Onboarding new hires to hospital protocols and standards
  • Assisting in scheduling and maintaining a smooth daily workflow
  • Leading by example to uphold our high standards of medicine and patient care
  • Supporting collaboration between hospital leadership and the technical team

What We’re Looking For:

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT) strongly preferred
  • 2+ years of proven anesthesia, surgical, and dental experience required
  • Proven ability to monitor anesthesia and assist in complex surgeries
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Experience training and mentoring team members
  • Positive, compassionate, and professional mindset
  • Excited to help shape the success of our hospital’s surgical services

Compensation & Benefits:

Competitive pay: Pay starts at $23/hr but goes up DOE
