Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)

North Fork Animal Hospital

Job Description

Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) – $1,000 Sign-On Bonus – AAHA Accredited – Southold, NY

Are you a Licensed Veterinary Technician looking to grow in your career, learn from a team with decades of experience, and work in a hospital that actually feels like home? Do you thrive in a team-oriented, supportive culture and want to be part of a practice where your voice matters?

North Fork Animal Hospital in Southold, NY, is growing – and we’re looking for an LVT who’s just as passionate about veterinary medicine and patient care as we are.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

Located on the scenic East End of Long Island, North Fork Animal Hospital is a well-established AAHA-accredited, 5-doctor small animal practice that also sees exotics and marine mammals. (Yes, really — our veterinarians provide care to animals at Riverhead Aquarium, which brings some truly unique and fascinating cases through our doors!)

Here’s what makes us different:

  •  Incredible mentorship & longevity: Our Hospital Manager has been here for 47 years, and several of our technicians have been with us for 20+ years. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from some of the most experienced and skilled professionals in the field.
  • Diverse caseload: From dogs and cats to birds, rabbits, reptiles, penguins and sea turtles,  you’ll see a variety of species and cases that keep every day interesting. It’s an ideal setting for LVTs who love learning and want exposure to more than the typical GP experience.
  • Supportive, close-knit team: We’re committed to team culture—whether it's celebrating wins, giving each other grace, or participating in community events like local pride parades and polar bear plunges.
  • Growth-minded leadership: We listen to our staff, adapt to change, and create an environment where you feel valued, autonomous, and empowered in your role. We’re growing and bringing on a new DVM, and we’re excited to build our technician team alongside them.

Your Day-to-Day as an LVT:

You’ll be fully utilized in your role and empowered to do what you do best. Tasks may include:

  • Placing IV catheters, phlebotomy, and administering medications
  • Anesthesia induction and monitoring
  • Surgical prep and recovery
  • Radiology and laboratory work
  • Assisting with exotic and marine mammal cases
  • Client education and communication
  • Supporting your teammates and collaborating with our DVMs

We rotate evening and weekend shifts to ensure work-life balance for the whole team. The hospital is open:

  • Mon/Tues/Wed: 8am–7pm
  • Thurs: 8am–6pm
  • Fri/Sat: 8am–5pm
  • Sun: Closed

We’re Looking for Someone Who Is:

  • A Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in New York (or eligible)
  • An experienced tech OR a new graduate from an AVMA-accredited program—we’ll mentor you!
  • A strong communicator and collaborator
  • Curious, positive, and adaptable
  • Excited to be part of a team that values education, support, and fun

Perks & Benefits:

  • $1,000 Sign-On Bonus
  • $25.00–$35.00/hr based on experience
  • Full-Time Position with Rotating Shifts
  • NVA Benefits Package including:
    • Medical, dental, vision insurance
    • Short- and long-term disability
    • Life insurance
    • 401(k) with employer match
    • Generous CE allowance & license reimbursement
    • Quarterly bonus program
    • Pet care discounts
    • PTO & paid holidays
  • Fun employee events, lunch-and-learns, and team-building activities

At North Fork Animal Hospital, your work matters. You’ll be encouraged to take ownership of your role, grow your skills, and feel confident knowing you’re making a difference for the patients, the clients, and your team.
