Job Description

Peaks View Animal Hospital, located in Lynchburg Virginia, is currently looking to fill several open positions for a Licensed Veterinary Technician. An eight-doctor practice, Peak’s View Animal Hospital is a fast paced, progressive practice focusing on high quality veterinary medicine and surgery.

We currently have several unique opportunities to fill open positions for a Licensed Veterinary Technician interested in focusing on one the following areas:

·         Medicine – Will be a primary part of the daily care and monitoring of in hospital patients, including emergency patients, boarders, and daily drop offs. Working as part of the primary medical team, this position will allow the applicant the opportunity to focus on learning advanced medical care, while keeping patient care top priority.

·         Dentistry – Will work closely with the dental doctor performing routine dentistry, monitoring, and care of the dentistry patients. Working as part of the primary dental team, this position will allow the applicant the opportunity to focus more directly on learning techniques associated with routine and advanced dental care.

 

All licensed technicians will act as part of the full medical team assisting in other areas as needed, but will have a primary focus on their areas of interest. Additional training is available in these areas in order to allow for growth and development. CE opportunities are available as well.

Primary Responsibilities of all licensed technicians include:

-          Excellent customer service and communication skills

-          Basic and advanced restraint for cats and dogs

-          Obtain and record patient histories, vital signs, and weight

-          Collect and prepare lab samples

-          IV catheter placement and maintenance

-          Administer anesthesia, prepare and monitor surgical patients

-          Nursing care of hospitalized patients

-          Assist with radiology and imaging

-          Triage assessment of critical patients

-          Create treatment estimates and invoices

-          Perform outpatient technician appointments

-          Maintain efficient flow of daily operations

Skills required:

-          Ability to work independently on assigned tasks

-          Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

-          Ability to remain calm in times of pressure

-          Ability to foster a positive work environment

Education:

-          Licensed and in good standing with the Virginia Board of veterinary Medicine

The ideal candidate will integrate easily into a large team environment and handle high stress situations with a calm, positive demeanor

Hourly wages are competitive, and we are offering a SIGNING BONUS of $2500 and a Retention bonus of $2500 to be paid out after 12 months of employment.
