Job Description

Harbor Animal Hospital in Pierce County’s Gig Harbor, is seeking a Veterinarian/Medical Director: Sign On Bonus $50,000; Joint Ownership Potential for the right candidate.

Located in Washington’s most desirable area, Harbor Animal Hospital has been serving the local community since 2005 and has consistently maintained our status as one of the top veterinary clinics in Pierce County year after year. In order to continue to practice progressive medicine and offer amazing support to our committed team, we are looking for a strong medical leader to guide us into the future.

We are a well-established, progressive practice with a stellar reputation throughout the community for over 3 decades.  Our client base is extremely committed to the continuous care of their pets and are compliant in regard to preventative care, dentistry, and diagnostics.  We work closely with local specialists and nearby Emergency Clinics for additional medical support.

Our team welcomes common household pets including rabbits. Hailing from all across the US, our veterinarians' special interests include small animal medicine, surgery, dentistry, internal medicine and acupuncture. Above all, they are committed to forming lasting and trusting relationships with clients and their families. This team is adventurous and down to earth, collaborative and empowering. 


Who We Are Looking For:  

We are looking for a self-motivated, compassionate candidate, capable of providing high quality medical care in a fast-paced environment.   Excellent communications skills with a clear understanding of the importance of client education and customer service are a must. 

Our staff enjoys learning, so we would love to have a doctor that enjoys sharing their knowledge and is comfortable "paying it forward" and teaching what they know. An interest in preventative medicine, dentistry, surgery, or acupuncture would be ideal as we have an established client base in these areas of focus. 


About the Managing DVM:

The Managing DVM (MDVM) is responsible for providing medical leadership for the hospital, managing associate veterinarians and assuring regulatory compliance relating to the practice of veterinary medicine.  The MDVM is also responsible for creating an environment of teamwork in which quality medicine is delivered. 

In partnership with the Hospital Manager, the MDVM is responsible for the financial performance of the hospital, preparing operating and capital budgets, and meeting budget expectations. In addition, the Hospital Manager and MDVM are responsible for directing staff and the overall management of the practice, under the direction of NVA Divisional Leadership.

We understand the importance of work/life balance and therefore work diligently to accommodate everyone’s schedule.  We are looking for someone to work approximately 4 days a week, no on-call or after hours. We are open 6 days a week, with shortened hours on Saturday.
