Managing Veterinarian

Coronado Veterinary Hospital

Job Description

Lead with impact, not paperwork.

At Coronado Veterinary Hospital, we believe our doctors should spend their time practicing medicine, mentoring, and making a difference, not buried in charts or tech work.  With ScribbleVet AI-powered dictation and a high technician-to-DVM ratio, you’ll focus on being a doctor while our skilled team and smart tools support you.

We’re seeking a Managing Veterinarian to guide our thriving General Practice + Urgent Care hospital, serving small animals (seeing exotics is a plus!).  This is an opportunity to shape the medical vision of a dynamic practice, grow as a leader, and still enjoy a fulfilling life outside of work.

Why Coronado?

  • Exciting, diverse cases – No two days are alike, from routine care to urgent and complex cases.
  • Supportive, skilled team – Credentialed technicians and high staff-to-doctor ratio mean you practice medicine, not tech duties.
  • Smart tools for efficiency – ScribbleVet AI dictation saves hours of charting.
  • Commitment to growth – We’re always investing in our people, our hospital, and our future.

Our Facility:

  • Digital X-ray (including dental)
  • Two dental stations
  • In-house & reference labs
  • Ultrasound and laser therapy
  • AI radiology consults with rapid turnaround
  • Full Idexx In house lab
  • Five exam rooms & a spacious surgical suite
  • Avimark EMR system
Need additional equipment? We’ll work with you to make it happen.

What We Offer:

  • Up to $65k Sign-On Bonus
  • $140,000 - $190,000 annually, depending on experience
  • Monthly production-based bonuses
  • Leadership bonuses
  • Comprehensive benefits to include a 401k with match
  • CE allowance + dedicated CE days
  • Extra Perks: Discounted pet care, license & DEA reimbursement, no non-compete

As Medical Director, you will:

  • Provide medical leadership and uphold high standards of care
  • Mentor and develop associate veterinarians
  • Oversee compliance, protocols, and hospital performance
  • Partner with the Hospital Manager on financial health and operations
  • Foster collaboration and efficiency within the team
  • Connect with other Medical Directors in Arizona for peer support

You’ll report directly to the NVA Arizona Division Leaders, with plenty of guidance and autonomy to make the role your own.

What We’re Looking For:

  • DVM or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited program (or ECFVG/PAVE certified)
  • Active Arizona license (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong communicator and decision-maker
  • Proven leadership experience or a clear passion for developing it

About Sierra Vista:

If you love the outdoors, Sierra Vista is a hidden gem.  Nestled at 4,500–5,000 feet elevation, our “sky island” climate runs about 20 degrees cooler than Phoenix.  You’ll have easy access to:

  • Hiking, biking, horseback riding, birding, and off-roading
  • Kartchner Caverns State Park & Parker Canyon Lake
  • Nearby historic towns like Tombstone and Bisbee
  • Fort Huachuca’s recreational areas and military museum

It’s no wonder Sierra Vista is internationally known as the “Hummingbird Capital of the United States.”
