 What You’ll Do

As Managing Veterinarian / Medical Director, you’ll play a key role in both clinical leadership and business operations.


 Medical & Operational Leadership

  • Oversee medical protocols and ensure high standards of patient care
  • Provide mentorship, case guidance, and training for veterinarians and support staff
  • Foster a culture of excellence in client communication and education
  • Develop hospital procedures and promote adherence to compliance standards
  • Ensure appropriate CE, licensing, and professional development for the veterinary team
 Strategic & Financial Management
  • Partner with the Hospital Manager to develop and meet operating budgets
  • Monitor revenue, expenses, and financial KPIs to support sustainable growth
  • Participate in recruiting and onboarding of new veterinarians and team members
  • Prepare associate schedules and performance reviews
  • Lead change management and innovation initiatives that elevate practice operation
Practice Growth & Community Engagement
  • Drive community involvement, client retention, and practice visibility
  • Support marketing and outreach initiatives in partnership with NVA leadership
  • Be an advocate for continuous improvement and innovation in service delivery 

What We’re Looking For

  • DVM or equivalent degree
  • Licensure (or ability to obtain) in New York State
  • Clinical experience in small or mixed animal practice
  • Proven leadership or management experience preferred, but not required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to team development, high medical standards, and community impact 

Compensation:

  • Base salary of $115,000-$150,000
  • Production-based bonuses
  • Generous signing bonus
