Job Description

Parkersburg Veterinary Hospital is a 8 doctor small animal practice located in Parkersburg, WV along the beautiful Ohio River. The hospital is excited to add a new managing veterinarian to the team!

We offer most orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries and serve as a referral center for surrounding veterinarians. Our hospital includes digital X-ray, ultrasound, and in-house lab along with both surgical and therapeutic lasers. 

The Managing Veterinarian (MDVM) is responsible for the success of the hospital. They oversee the medical and surgical operations while leading and nurturing a culture of excellence, growth, and collaboration. They are responsible for ensuring exceptional patient care, fostering a positive work environment, driving practice growth, and financial performance in partnership with the hospital manager (HM). Also, the MDVM works with the hospital manager (HM) in directing staff and the management of the practice, under the direction of NVA Divisional Leadership.


Key Responsibilities

  • The MDVM oversees medical and surgical operations, ensuring exceptional patient care and fostering a positive work environment. ​
  • They collaborate with the Hospital Manager (HM) to drive practice growth, financial performance, and implement growth initiatives, marketing strategies, and community programs. ​
  • The role includes mentoring associate veterinarians, conducting performance reviews, and facilitating staff training programs to enhance professional development. ​
  • The MDVM is responsible for maintaining medical standards, adhering to ethical practices, and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Regular engagement with divisional leadership is essential to align hospital goals with organizational objectives and improve overall performance. ​

Qualifications

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent, with licensure in good standing is required. ​
  • Candidates should possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to high standards of veterinary care.
  • Experience of 1-3 years is mandatory, with a preference for 4-6 years. ​
