Medical Director

Colorado Animal Specialty & Emergency

Job Description

Medical Director – Boulder, CO

CASE is seeking a Medical Director to join their team. This is a rare opportunity for a clinically active leader who thrives in a collaborative environment and is genuinely passionate about mentorship, medical excellence, and shaping the future of specialty medicine.

Why This Leadership Role is Unique
CASE is a 52,000 sq. ft. specialty and emergency hospital — designed from the ground up to foster collaboration across services. Daily All-Hospital Rounds, organic hallway consults, and formal interdisciplinary discussions aren't just encouraged here, they're part of the fabric of how we work.

As Medical Director, you will:
  • Lead with clinical excellence and set the standard for the kind of medicine practiced across all services
  • Build and sustain a culture where collaboration, accountability, and mutual respect aren't aspirational — they're expected
  • Partner with hospital leadership on strategic growth and service development
  • Mentor specialists, interns, and emerging leaders who are invested in growing alongside you
  • Champion innovation, including our expanding Minimally Invasive Procedures program
  • Play an active role in recruiting and onboarding new specialty services
  • Maintain your own clinical practice with protected administrative time — because great leaders stay connected to the medicine
Our hospital is fully equipped with:
  • CT, MRI, digital radiography, ultrasound
  • Linear accelerator
  • Hemodialysis
  • Endoscopy
  • Fully equipped in-house laboratory
  • A brand-new minimally invasive procedures suite designed for interventional radiology
Our collegial team includes specialists in Surgery, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Neurology, Medical Oncology, Ophthalmology, Anesthesia, and Rehabilitation — with Cardiology joining the team in September.

Commitment to Growth & Academic Medicine
Learning doesn't stop at CASE — it's built into how we practice. With a robust internship program (3 surgical interns + 7 rotating interns), active participation in clinical trials, and ongoing collaboration with Ethos Discovery, the Medical Director will have a meaningful role in advancing mentorship, research, and clinical innovation across the hospital.

Why Boulder?
Located at the base of the Rockies and just 30 minutes from Denver, Boulder offers an unmatched lifestyle. 300+ days of sunshine. Hiking, skiing, and trail access minutes from the hospital. A vibrant cultural scene and thriving food and brewery community. Work-life balance here isn't theoretical — it's built into daily life.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience and leadership background — base range $200,000–$250,000
  • ProSal model with monthly production payouts and no negative accrual
  • Leadership stipend
  • Full comprehensive benefits package including CE and PTO

If you're a clinician who leads with both excellence and heart — and you're ready to help shape the future of a premier specialty hospital — we'd love to connect.
