We are seeking a Veterinarian for our General Practice Mentorship Program! Are you passionate about mentoring and coaching? Do you want to help create a program that encourages, educates, uplifts, and propels young veterinarians into successful careers?

We recognize new graduates beginning their career in veterinary medicine come with a unique set of challenges and we strongly believe mentorship lays the foundation for a rich and dynamic career.

In this role, you will be responsible for mentoring, teaching, and providing feedback to a group of recent graduates.  You will provide mentorship guided by a balanced curriculum (medical, soft skills, and whole-person content).  As a mentoring doctor, you will collaborate with NVA hospital leadership teams to deliver coaching that aligns with hospital best practices and the needs of the mentee.

  • Exemplifies technical and verbal fluency in the areas of internal medicine, dental procedures, and soft-tissue surgery
  • Adaptable to a variety of personalities and workflows
  • Willing and eager to jump in and offer guidance
  • Demonstrated success teaching in a veterinary hospital setting

Position Details & Responsibilities

  • This will be a full-time role focused ONLY on mentorship supporting multiple divisions (no individual practice).  Aligned to guidance from our Medical Advisory Board, you will deliver customized content to recent graduates to support their development as clinically competent, well-rounded veterinarians.
  • 1:1 coaching of recent veterinarian graduates practicing in our hospitals
  • Host wellness, learning, and social events within your student cohort
  • Review cases, treatment plans, case questions, and provide client education/communication tips
  • Host wet-labs, small group case studies, and skill training sessions
  • Partner with hospital leadership team to gather feedback and understand unique elements of their practice
  • Travel to student hospitals for in-person training
  • Salaried position with performance bonus based on mentee retention and ramp-up

Qualifications:

  • 8-10+ years of veterinary practice in a hospital setting
  • Experience working at an NVA hospital preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to connect with new doctors
  • Technologically savvy – experience using Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time (may include air travel)
  • DVM or VMD degree
