Emergency Veterinarian - Overnight Shift
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Emergency Veterinarian to join our 24/7 team at Adobe Animal Hospital. If you thrive in high-intensity medical environments and are passionate about providing life-saving care to animals in critical condition, we want you on our team!
Adobe Animal Hospital has been proudly serving our community since 1964. Adobe is a special place for many Bay Area pet owners – we run two hospitals in Los Altos and Los Gatos that offer top-quality medical and surgical care for small animals and exotic species. Our Los Altos location, which won a merit award for hospital design, has 18 exam rooms, 2 ultrasound rooms, 3 surgical suites, a 3-station dental suite, and a large well-equipped 24/7 ICU Department.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide immediate and comprehensive medical care to critically ill and injured animals during overnight shifts
- Perform emergency surgeries, advanced diagnostic procedures, and urgent medical interventions
- Triage and assess incoming emergency and critical care patients
- Communicate effectively with pet owners during high-stress medical situations
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records
- Collaborate with daytime veterinary staff to ensure continuity of patient care
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) from an accredited veterinary school
- Minimum of 1-2 years emergency veterinary experience
- Strong decision-making skills under pressure
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proficiency with veterinary medical software and electronic medical records
Required Skills:
- Ability to work 12-hour overnight shifts for 3 consecutive nights
- Calm and composed demeanor in high-stress situations
- Adaptable to rapidly changing medical scenarios
- Strong diagnostic and surgical skills
- Compassionate patient and client care approach
