We are looking for an experienced ER Veterinarian to join our team as a overnight doctor!  Mass Vet is an elite tertiary facility in the Boston area practicing exceptional medicine.  Our hospital is rooted in training, teaching and collaboration.  You will have ample opportunity to grow your knowledge base and skills by working cohesively with many specialty departments.  We believe in work-life balance, taking care of each other and helping everyone succeed.

Want full time status and have more time off? Want to generate more income? You can do both at Mass Vet! 9 shifts per 4 weeks is a full-time schedule with benefits, with the option to commit to additional shifts for a higher income. Shifts are scheduled from either 5PM or 7PM to 8AM.


Full Time:

  • 9 shifts per 4 weeks – $180K
  • 10 shifts per 4 weeks – $200K
  • 12 shifts per 4 weeks – $250K

Part Time:

  • 6 shifts per 4 weeks – $125K

The Position:

  • 5pm/7pm - 8am with a balance of weekday and weekend shifts
  • Work alongside at least one overnight doctor every night, along with swing ER doctors until 1am.  Separate and dedicated ICU and ER nursing staff. 
  • Primary responsibility is management of hospitalized patients with some ER receiving starting at midnight
  • Very generous salary with voluntary picked up shifts paid as a bonus + hourly
  • 3 weeks PTO

  • We are a 48,000 sq ft, premier VECCS Level 1 certified emergency and specialty hospital located 11 miles north of Boston
  • We’ve also added a new cardiology-focused fluoroscopy unit and new MRI. Coming soon is our brand-new CT with 3d imaging capabilities!
  • Our new seltzer machine has been a huge hit with the team, expanding our spacious break room that includes a multitude of beverage and food items and comfortable seating.

Our Team

  • Excellent technician staffing with highly skilled nursing staff
  • Average ER doctor tenure of 5+ years
  • ER department comprised of 35 ER clinicians and Criticalists – and always growing!
  • Comprehensive specialty services including Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Radiology, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Oncology, Anesthesiology and Critical Care.  Many services are available 7 days a week
  • Part-time onsite Social worker available for clients and staff

Our Focus on Teaching

  • Robust House Officer Program includes Radiology residents, Neurology interns, and Surgery residents
  • ER Immerse program – structured training program designed to provide training and mentorship for veterinarians looking to excel in the field of emergency medicine in lieu of an internship or residency
  • Frequent in-house RACE approved CE opportunities
  • Large, dedicated teaching space/ conference room for lectures, CE events, and meetings
