Job Description

We are a busy animal hospital looking to recruit additional staff! Ideal candidate must be a team player, have excellent customer service and communication skills, be self-motivated, have a desire to learn about the veterinary medical profession, and love animals!

The front desk Care Coordinator is responsible for providing excellent customer service and operating an efficient front desk. The Care Coordinator performs administrative and various general procedures associated with routine patient encounters including operating a multi-line phone system and entering information into an electronic medical record. The Care Coordinator maintains a positive relationship with clients and patients, other visitors, and fellow employees. This is a full-time position which will include Saturdays. Must be available flexible hours through the week and be eager to learn and relay information about veterinary medicine in a professional capacity.

Responsibilities and Duties

Upholding our standards of care and customer service while also:

  • Answering phone calls
  • Scheduling appointments and managing the appointment scheduler
  • Assisting veterinarians
  • Filling medications, prescription diets (up to 35 lbs), and other products/items as requested
  • Communicating effectively with clients in various types of situations
  • Using the computer/various technology to accurately retrieve records, print daily reports, and complete projects as needed
  • Promoting the hospital through the use of the hospital's social media account(s)
  • Learning and exercising knowledge in basic veterinary principals
  • Cash handling and discharging patients through the use of veterinary software
  • General maintenance of the front desk/reception area
  • Acting as the face of the clinic, greeting clients and helping them out as needed (modified during COVID to provide Curbside Care)

Patient Care Coordinators play a pivotal role in our practice and are the first and last contact for our clients. He or she must strive to create positive lasting impressions and inspire our team to keep excelling as we continue to grow. Experience in a veterinary hospital (with knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures) or with customer service is ideal.

REQUIREMENTS

Education equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade or higher as well as the ability to type 45 words per minute or more. This is a physical job which will require the ability to lift 30+ lbs . We are a fast-paced animal hospital, multi-tasking is essential. Customer service experience preferred, veterinary knowledge or experience is a plus but not required. Must be available Saturdays in addition to varying hours throughout the week . If you are interested in the veterinary field, this is an excellent opportunity to learn. We promote continuing education and offer several opportunities such as online classes, conference attendance, and in-house training. We are very selective with who we bring on to our team and have a multi-step hiring process. Additionally, potential employees must pass a routine background check and drug screen.
