Position Summary
The Payroll Specialist I is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll processing across multiple states. This role involves hands-on data entry, auditing, research, and customer service, with a focus on employee support and service excellence. The Payroll Specialist I will report directly to the Payroll Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Operations & Data Management
· Accurately collect, calculate, enter, and audit various payroll and HR data.
· Manage recurring payroll processes of moderate complexity and risk.
· Support the processing and auditing of both regular and off-cycle payroll runs.
· Serve as the first point of contact for payroll inquiries via phone and ServiceNow, ensuring timely resolution.
· Provide exceptional service to internal stakeholders, maintaining a helpful and professional tone.
· Participate in the intake and assignment of payroll-related tickets or requests.
· Assist with specific data entry, documentation, and payroll-related administrative tasks.
· Maintain confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive information.

Qualifications
· 2+ years of experience processing U.S. multi-state payroll in a large organization (3,000+ employees).
· Experience with payroll systems such as ADP Vantage and/or Ceridian Dayforce is preferred.
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Outlook, and Word).
· Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.
· CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification is preferred but not required.
· Ability to manage shifting priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.
· Professional written and verbal communication skills.
· Commitment to handling confidential information with discretion and integrity.
· Availability to work extended hours as needed during peak processing periods.

Compensation
$25-28/hour
