Clark Animal Hospital is a well-established, eight-doctor general practice with a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility and a supportive, positive team culture. We’re excited to welcome a compassionate and dedicated Pet Care Assistant to our growing team. In this role, you’ll support our veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring pets receive the highest standard of care while helping create an excellent experience for their owners.

Schedule

Full-time or part-time positions available.
We are open Monday through Friday and every other Saturday, and strive to provide consistent schedules and a strong work–life balance.


Compensation

$14.50–$16.50 per hour, based on experience.


What You’ll Do

As a Pet Care Assistant, you’ll support our veterinary team and help ensure smooth, high-quality care. Your responsibilities include:

Patient Care & Clinic Support

  • Assisting veterinarians and technicians during exams and procedures
  • Monitoring animal behavior and physical condition; reporting changes to veterinary staff
  • Administering medications and treatments as directed
  • Collecting samples and performing basic laboratory tasks
  • Educating pet owners on nutrition, grooming, preventive care, and general pet well-being
  • Maintaining clean, organized exam rooms, kennels, and hospital areas

Client Service & Front Desk Support

  • Greeting clients and ensuring a positive, welcoming experience
  • Scheduling appointments and maintaining accurate patient records
  • Assisting with check-ins, check-outs, and customer communication

Team Collaboration

  • Preparing exam rooms and equipment for procedures
  • Demonstrating basic knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and veterinary terminology
  • Supporting a smooth and efficient workflow within the hospital
  • Assisting in other duties as assigned to support daily operations

Experience & Qualifications

We welcome applicants with varied backgrounds. Ideal candidates may have:

  • Experience in a veterinary clinic, kennel, shelter, or pet care environment
  • Familiarity with basic veterinary terminology
  • Understanding of animal anatomy, behavior, and husbandry
  • Experience with front desk or customer service in a medical or veterinary setting
  • Knowledge of critical care procedures or protocols (a plus, but not required)

High School Diploma or equivalent is required.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, or bend for extended periods
  • Comfort working around animals that may bite, scratch, or react unpredictably
  • Ability to work in a moderately noisy environment
  • Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for handling animals, equipment, and computers
