Job Summary:

The Procurement Category Manager will be a key member of the Indirect Procurement team reporting to the Manager of Indirect Procurement. Procurement overlooks the sourcing strategy, negotiations, contracting, implementation, and vendor management for all of EVH’s indirect initiatives. This is a unique opportunity to lead negotiations on multi-million-dollar contracts that will influence the direction of EVH’s overall business operations and work cross-functionally to drive sustainable value, streamline procurement operations, and support the long-term business goals of EVH.


Responsibilities:

  • Serve as category expert for multiple categories spanning the indirect procurement landscape to include IT, Finance, HR, Travel, ect.
  • Lead Technology-related procurement activities including, but not limited to, software and cloud services, technology infrastructure, licensing, and professional services.
  • Develop and execute category strategies, to include building spend / metrics data, benchmark against industry and future budgets to provide recommendations to key stakeholders on savings opportunities, supplier rationalization, and operational improvements.
  • Identify and implement cost optimization initiatives via competitive sourcing, demand management, and process improvements.
  • Deliver measurable cost savings and value through TCO analysis, should-cost modeling, and contract optimization.
  • Drive sourcing transformation initiatives, including change management and stakeholder enablement for new processes, tools, or sourcing strategies.
  • Establish strong partnerships and nurture a positive business relationship with large group of matrixed internal stakeholders and suppliers to understand their processes; short- and long-term business objectives, strategic direction and goals while providing a customer focus attitude.
  • Organize and lead at a minimum Quarterly Business Reviews(QBRs) with strategic suppliers.
  • Build short- and long-term Sourcing pipeline, conduct and manage RFX/RFP processes
  • Negotiate pricing and key business terms with suppliers, conduct industry benchmarking of pricing and make recommendations on programs to reduce supplier costs
  • Support internal customers by ensuring supplier performance, delivery of goods and services, and provide ongoing supplier management
  • Ability to act as a mentor to members of the team and share knowledge

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management with demonstrated success across multiple indirect categories.
  • Proven experience leading sourcing initiatives in IT, Finance, HR, or Travel categories.
  • Expertise in contract negotiation and drafting; solid understanding of commercial legal terms and procurement law.
  • Financial acumen, including the ability to build and interpret TCO, cost models, and business cases.
  • Deep understanding of strategic sourcing methodologies (e.g., 7-step sourcing, agile procurement).
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a matrixed organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with experience presenting to executives.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Full proficiency with Microsoft Office, G-Suite, and familiarity with procurement and spend analytics platforms.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Experience with eRFX tools, including Scout, Iasta, Ariba, iValua or similar
  • Experience in using Tableau, Bi, or other data visualization tools
  • Experience in using JDE, Oracle or similar ERP platforms
  • Bachelor’s degree required MBA or Masters preferred


The base salary range for this full-time position is $100,000-$125,000. Our salary ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The Company offers competitive compensation along with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision benefits, vacation, sick leave, 401(k), and more depending on location.
