Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for animal care and welfare, with the ability to assist veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to a variety of animals. This role requires proficiency in both clinical and laboratory procedures, as well as excellent communication skills to interact effectively with pet owners and team members.

Duties

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures, ensuring a sterile environment through proper aseptic technique.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis, while maintaining accurate records of results.
  • Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations, treatments, and procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Monitor animal patients during recovery from anesthesia or medical procedures, providing critical care when necessary.
  • Maintain dental terminology knowledge to assist in dental cleanings and procedures for various animal species.
  • Conduct X-Ray imaging as required for diagnostic purposes while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Provide education to pet owners regarding animal health, nutrition, and preventive care.

Experience

  • Previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a similar role is required.
  • Strong skills in dog handling and general animal handling techniques are essential.
  • Knowledge of veterinary critical care practices is highly desirable.
  • Experience with animal catheterization procedures is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
