Senior Manager, Team Member Relations (Employee Relations)
Ethos Veterinary Health
Job Description
Job Summary:
We’re looking for a Senior Manager of Team Member Relations to join our team and lead the creation of a team member relations (TMR) function. This role isn’t about upholding the status quo but about imagining and building a team that helps our team members feel heard, respected, and supported. The position will be responsible for building internal investigation protocols and processes, ensuring a consistent, fair, and legally compliant approach to team member concerns and workplace issues. The Sr. Manager will also chart the course for the future state of the TMR function by designing roles, responsibilities, and team structures that align organizational goals and evolving best practices.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design clear processes, protocols, and procedures for handling internal employee complaints and investigations including intake, triage, evidence gathering, interviews, documentation, resolution, and debrief process.
- Optimize our NAVEX system to be the system of record for all team member relations investigation documentation and case resolution details.
- Work closely with HRBPs, Legal, Compliance, and Operations/Support Center leadership. Provide expertise and guidance on complex team member relations issues. Assess the risks involved in each situation and help others make informed decisions that are right for our people and our business.
- Investigate highly sensitive team member relations issues including witness and subject interviews, collaborating with appropriate stakeholders, case management, proposing remedial action based on investigation findings, and entering all documentation into NAVEX.
- Establish audit practices to ensure thoroughness, consistency, and compliance in all investigation outcomes.
- Ensure that all investigative processes are compliant with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies while minimizing risk and maintaining confidentiality and fairness.
- Lead the planning and implementation of the future team member relations team. Lay out a vision for what a great employee relations team looks like, then lead the way in building and organizing that team for the future. This role will recruit talent and lead a team, setting clear expectations, managing performance and aligning goals with business objectives.
- Develop and maintain reporting dashboards for investigation activity, case trends, root cause analyses, and recommend proactive interventions to mitigate workplace risk. Create regular reports and updates to help leadership see the full picture of teammate relations across the company.
- Lead change management strategies for the adoption of new protocols, processes, and the future-state function. Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Design and deliver training programs on investigation protocols, employee relations best practices, and conflict resolution.
- Champion a positive workplace culture by modeling and embedding respect, inclusion, ethics, and transparency in all TMR activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or a related field
- 8+ years of progressive experience in employee relations or HR, with a primary focus on conducting and/or managing complex and sensitive workplace investigations
- Proven experience leading, building or scaling an HR team
- Expert communication skills, both written and verbal; particularly successful in listening and understanding various points of view
- Ability to develop and maintain trusting relationships at all levels and influence without direct authority
- Strong interpersonal, consultancy, problem solving and facilitation skills, including conflict resolution skills, mediation skills and the ability to handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy
- Expert knowledge of employment, wage and hour, FMLA and EEO laws as well as functional and organizational programs, policies, practices and processes
- Ability to think strategically and in operational efficiencies, exercising a balance of both short- and long-term thinking
- Proven ability to exercise sound judgement in decision making
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
