Job Summary:

The Senior People Business Partner-Field serves as a strategic thought partner to leadership across our field operations and veterinary hospital network. This role is instrumental in aligning people strategies with business objectives to drive performance, elevate organizational effectiveness, and enhance the employee experience at scale.


The Sr. People Business Partner leads complex, cross-functional initiatives in the areas of organizational design, leadership development, change management, and cultural transformation. They proactively identify talent and organizational opportunities, providing data-driven counsel to guide strategic decision-making.


This role also provides leadership to a team of HR Managers and Field People Business Partners, empowering them to deliver high-impact, localized HR support while ensuring alignment with broader enterprise goals.  The Sr BP will also have other in-direct HR Managers that report to the Field BP.   The Sr. BP plays a key role in shaping a cohesive, high-performing, and values-driven people function across the organization.


The ideal candidate is a seasoned HR leader with deep expertise in business partnership, a high degree of leadership presence, and a demonstrated ability to influence across large teams. They bring a systems-thinking approach to solving business challenges and a strong track record of leading through ambiguity, scale, and transformation.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Partner with senior operations leaders to assess organizational health, identify future talent needs, and strengthen bench strength through strategic workforce planning and leadership development initiatives.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to operational leaders by providing expert guidance and coaching on complex employee relations and performance management matters. Ensure consistent and business-aligned outcomes, escalating sensitive issues appropriately.
  • Lead high-visibility and sensitive employee relations investigations, overseeing the work of HR Managers to ensure thorough documentation, risk assessment, and resolution aligned with organizational values, applicable laws, and precedent. Collaborate with legal counsel when needed.
  • Interpret and apply knowledge of employment law, organizational policy, and regulatory frameworks to mitigate risk and guide leaders in effectively managing employee matters across a distributed workforce.
  • Leverage data and industry trends to develop and implement people strategies that solve business challenges and enhance organizational effectiveness where available.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Community, and other Support Center teams to deliver integrated talent solutions. Guide and support the execution of succession planning, talent reviews, and individual development plans for critical roles.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, scaling, and communicating HR best practices across hospital teams and operational groups.
  • Act as a culture champion, working closely with senior leaders to enhance employee engagement, strengthen team dynamics, and support a positive, inclusive, and high-performing work environment.
  • Provide strategic counsel during the annual compensation planning cycle, analyzing market trends and internal equity to inform recommendations in partnership with the compensation team.
  • Serve as a point of contact for HR escalations, providing high-level employee guidance and directing inquiries to Support Center teams as appropriate.
  • Take on special projects and enterprise-level initiatives, contributing to the evolution of HR programs, systems, and strategies.
  • Develop, lead, and support direct and in-direct reports on a common purpose and align to One Ethos.
  • Other job duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with a proven track record in developing and executing people strategies across employee relations, performance management, talent development, and organizational engagement.
  • 5+ years of direct leadership experience supporting multi-site or distributed teams, including developing and implementing HR strategies aligned to business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a trusted advisor and influential leader, with a proactive approach to supporting, coaching, and enabling leaders to drive results.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to tailor messaging and influence across all organizational levels, including executive leadership.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate business needs into actionable HR solutions.
  • Proven ability to lead through ambiguity and navigate complex, unstructured situations with sound judgment and composure.
  • Thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments; adaptable and resilient with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence and professional maturity; capable of building trust and credibility quickly in a variety of settings.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed to support multi-site teams and field operations (estimated up to 50% travel).

The base salary range for this full-time position is $125,000-$145,000 annually. Our salary ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The Company offers competitive compensation along with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision benefits, vacation, sick leave, 401(k), and more depending on location.
