In 2023, it was announced that National Veterinary Associates will form two distinct businesses: NVA, which will continue to oversee approximately 1,400 premier general practice veterinary hospitals in addition to equine hospitals and pet resorts, and Ethos Veterinary Health (“Ethos”), which will consist of 145 world-class specialty and emergency veterinary hospitals with a shared vision of revolutionizing veterinary medicine. We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join us as we build a world-class Controllership function to support Ethos as it becomes an independent company and implements various corporate maturity initiatives that may one day support an IPO process.
Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant, Corporate Accounting, will be a key member of the Controllership. This role will be instrumental in the further development of an Corporate Accounting function for Ethos as we work through the post go live of a new ERP (Oracle), develop a full financial analysis and process separate from NVA, and implement new Corporate Accounting policies and controls.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in all accounting activities, including preparing large volume of journal entries and reconciliations and corporate accounting activities.
- Support the Corporate Accounting team functions
- Assist with Identifying, designing, and documenting preferred Corporate Accounting policies and procedures for the Ethos business and align across legacy business units.
- Work collaboratively with team members and departments to achieve shared goals
- Support the company’s various corporate maturity initiatives and other projects, as required.
- Flexibility and Prioritization: Adapt quickly to changing priorities and ensure deadlines are met, even in demanding situations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or similar field.
- Minimum 1 year of accounting or finance experience
- Experience working with an ERP system is required; Oracle experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Excel and other relevant accounting software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Exceptional time management and organizational abilities.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
Critical Competencies for Success in Role:
- This is a transformational role, which will be tasked with integrating and aligning the practices, policies, processes, and procedures for four legacy groups of hospitals that were individually acquired by NVA. This requires the ability to critically analyze ways of working, identify best-practice, and then partner cross-functionally to implement. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working through ambiguity and identifying best practices both internally and externally to the organization. This is a ‘hands-on’ role which will require resolving operational issues, but also with a strategic element focus on supporting the build-out of Ethos’ Corporate Accounting function.
- Ethos is in the midst of a multi-year project to mature its support center functions to the level of an independent company that is subject to requirements for public companies. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a public company environment.
The base salary range for this full-time position is $60,000 - $65,000. Our salary ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
