Veterinarian - Choose Your Caseload in a Tahoe Destination Hospital!

Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital

Job Description

Looking for wide-open skies, endless adventure, and a hospital where you can grow? We’ve got a spot for you.

At Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital, you’ll find the rare combination of cutting-edge medicine, natural beauty, and the freedom to build a deeply fulfilling career. Just 30 minutes from Lake Tahoe, our 15,000 sq. ft. AAHA-accredited hospital is flooded with natural light and filled with smart, collaborative people who love what they do.

We’re growing fast — and we’re looking for a full-time Associate Veterinarian who wants to help us serve more pets, build their own caseload, and find purpose in a community that truly values its veterinarians.

The Opportunity:

This role is ideal for someone who is ready to relocate for lifestyle and growth, loves building lasting relationships with clients and pets, wants autonomy in shaping their medical caseload, enjoys variety — our doctors see everything from routine wellness to emergencies, and feels energized by mountain air, natural beauty, and open space.

Our Resources:

Our resources include a 15,000 sq. ft. facility filled with natural light and mountain views, a 15-doctor team (soon to be 16!) with a collaborative, progressive spirit, 21 exam rooms, multiple surgery suites, and separate dental suites, an on-site CT machine, digital and dental radiology, ultrasound, full IDEXX in-house laboratory, therapeutic laser and endoscopy, full support staff with a 3:1 ratio, including licensed veterinary technicians, and over 60 years of trusted community presence and AAHA accreditation.

The Lifestyle:

Carson Valley is where wide-open skies meet modern convenience. You’ll find mountain views, top-rated schools, local restaurants, and all the essentials — with bigger city amenities like Starbucks down the road and Trader Joe’s and Costco just 20 minutes away. This is a haven for those who crave space, peace, and proximity to world-class hiking, skiing, fishing, and boating at Lake Tahoe. Nevada's no state income tax makes the move even sweeter.

Compensation and Benefits:

$130,000–$190,000 base salary (depending on experience)
21% production bonus, paid monthly
50% production on emergency and after-hours appointments
Exact compensation will be based on skills, experience, and schedule

Time Off:

4 weeks of paid time off (3 weeks personal time + 1 week for CE)

Health Insurance:

Multiple plan options, including a low-deductible PPO plan and affordable premiums for you and your dependents

Mental Health Support:

$0 copays for therapy and mental health visits. Coverage for both in-person and telehealth appointments. Access to the Calm app for guided meditation, sleep, and stress relief. Access to Headspace for one-on-one emotional wellness coaching.

Inclusive & Affirming Coverage:

Transgender-inclusive medical care, including gender affirmation surgery and hormone therapy. Prescription coverage for PrEP.

Retirement & Financial Support:

401(k) with employer match. HSA with employer contributions. FSAs for health, dependent care, and commuting. Student loan refinancing bonus through SoFi.

Career Growth & Education:

Access to NVA’s new training and continuing education facility in Chicago. Tailored career development support, including ownership buy-in opportunities.

Parental Support:

Income protection during maternity leave through short-term disability. Emotional wellness tools to support family transitions.

Income Protection & Optional Extras:

Short-term and long-term disability. Life and AD&D insurance. Aflac voluntary benefits (critical illness, accident, hospital indemnity).

Perks & Discounts:

National discounts on travel, wellness, apparel, and more. One Pass fitness memberships (digital or in-person). Up to 20% off Pumpkin pet insurance. Legal assistance through LegalEASE. Identity protection through NortonLifeLock.
