Veterinarian

Kings Row Pet Hospital

Job Description

Work with a team that feels like family — and never work weekends again.

At Kings Row Pet Hospital, we believe in meaningful work, real time off, and the kind of culture that makes you want to stay. We’re a close-knit, long-standing group of veterinarians and support staff who genuinely enjoy working together. Our culture is built on mutual respect, laughter, and trust — and our schedule reflects what we value most: life outside of work.

Located in the heart of Reno, our hospital offers the best of both worlds: access to the mountains and trails of Tahoe, and a vibrant urban scene full of craft dining, culture, and energy. Whether you're catching a concert downtown or hiking on your day off, you’ll feel at home here.

The Opportunity
We’re looking for a full-time Associate Veterinarian to join our established, family-led small animal and exotic practice in beautiful Reno, NV. Whether you’re experienced with exotics or just eager to learn, this is an ideal role for someone who values connection, consistency, and clinical variety — without compromising work-life balance.

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Wants consistent weekends off (we’re closed Saturdays and Sundays — always!)
  • Enjoys working alongside colleagues they trust and respect
  • Is curious about or passionate about exotic medicine
  • Loves being part of a stable, family-style hospital culture
  • Wants time to live, not just work — with a 4-day workweek and manageable pace

Our Resources & Culture

  • Family-owned + NVA-supported: enjoy both local leadership and nationwide resources
  • Founded and led by Dr. Mark Ditsworth, known throughout Reno for his expertise in avian and exotic medicine
  • Strong para support so you can focus on medicine, not busywork
  • Full in-house lab and digital radiology
  • Avimark practice management software
  • Long-tenured team that supports mentorship and collaboration
  • High caseload demand = room for growth
  • We take our work seriously — but not ourselves

The Lifestyle
Reno isn’t just “The Biggest Little City in the World” — it’s a gateway to Tahoe, a thriving outdoorsy community, and a hidden gem for anyone who wants affordability, adventure, and balance.

  • Weekend-ready with world-class skiing, hiking, biking, and fishing nearby
  • Foodie-friendly with craft breweries, farm-to-table dining, and a growing restaurant scene
  • Arts, music, and festivals year-round
  • No state income tax and a lower cost of living than many major metros

What You’ll Get

  • Base salary of $110,000–$120,000 (new grads)
  • $130,000–$150,000 (experienced DVMs)
  • 21% production bonus, paid monthly
  • 4-day workweek — no weekends ever
  • 4 weeks total paid time off (3 weeks PTO + 1 week for CE)
  • CE allowance with dedicated CE days
  • Access to NVA’s state-of-the-art training center in Chicago
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Uniform allowance
  • Mentorship and leadership pathways available
  • Connection to NVA’s 1,500+ hospital network, including 5 sister practices in Nevada

If your next chapter includes strong relationships, a flexible schedule, and medicine that keeps you curious — this is your sign.
