Veterinary Anesthesiologist

Animal Dental Center

Job Description

Animal Dental Center (ADC) is seeking a full-time veterinary anesthesiologist to join our specialty dentistry and oral surgery private practice serving Maryland and southern Pennsylvania. Our Annapolis office will serve as the anesthesiologist’s primary home office, with planned training, collaboration, and clinical support provided to our additional locations.

ADC is home to 6 Board-Certified Veterinary Dentists and 6–7 dentistry and oral surgery residents, delivering premier outpatient specialty care across the Mid-Atlantic region. Our focus is unparalleled patient and client care, supported by a strong culture of collaboration, flexibility, and work-life balance.

We offer a 4-day weekday work week, with no weekends, holidays, or on-call responsibilities, along with a comprehensive compensation and benefits package. We are excited to expand our specialty services by partnering with a board-certified veterinary anesthesiologist who values teamwork and has a passion for mentorship and service development.

Applicants should be a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (DACVAA) or residency-trained and board-eligible. Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with all team members is essential.

The Opportunity

This position offers a unique opportunity to design and grow an anesthesia service that complements your lifestyle and professional interests. Currently, anesthesia training for our team members (Diplomates, residents, technicians, and assistants) occurs onsite annually with an ACVAA Diplomate. ADC is supported by a dedicated team of veterinary assistants and technicians, many of whom are enrolled in licensing programs or interested in pursuing veterinary technician specialty training.

The anesthesiologist’s primary clinical presence will be based in Annapolis, with an anticipated time allocation of approximately 80-90% in Annapolis and 10-20% supporting our other locations. This distribution is flexible and fully open to discussion, and the final schedule will be developed collaboratively based on the preferences and strengths of the hired candidate.

Role Responsibilities

The anesthesiologist will provide leadership and oversight of a comprehensive anesthesia service across all four ADC locations. Responsibilities include:

  • Perioperative and postoperative anesthetic management of onsite cases
  • Review of medical records and anesthetic planning for daily cases
  • Direct collaboration with DVM and technician teams
  • Training and mentorship of assistants and technicians at all locations
  • Remote anesthesia support for other sites, as feasible

While training and collaboration at multiple locations are required, the timing, frequency, and structure of this training are negotiable. Our goal is to build a sustainable, effective anesthesia service that aligns with the anesthesiologist’s professional goals and preferred work style.

Leadership & Collaboration

Team building, mentorship, and leadership are integral aspects of this role. The anesthesiologist will play a key role in:

  • Supporting ADC’s technical and clinical teams
  • Strengthening relationships with referring veterinarians
  • Participating in surgery scheduling, staff education, and workflow optimization

Client-facing responsibilities and the degree of involvement in various operational areas are open to discussion and customization. We value the insight and influence a specialty anesthesiologist brings and are committed to shaping the role around the individual.

ADC has proudly served the Delmarva Peninsula and southern Pennsylvania for over 30 years. As a progressive and growing practice, we are excited to expand our services and continue delivering the exceptional care our referring partners and patients expect.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • 4-day work week with no on-call or holiday shifts
  • Closed for major holidays
  • Generous PTO (vacation and sick leave)
  • Comprehensive medical insurance (including dental and vision)
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Professional licensing and membership fee reimbursement
  • Generous CE allowance plus paid CE time
  • Employee pet discounts, scrubs, and pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Base salary of $200,000 with production
