Veterinary Assistant / Client Service Representative (Full-Time Cross-Trained Role)

Verde Veterinary Hospital

Job Description

Looking for that rare unicorn clinic—the one where teamwork actually means something, leadership listens, and laughter is part of the daily routine? You’ve found it. Verde Veterinary Hospital is a place where high-quality medicine meets genuine compassion, and where every team member is valued for what they bring to the table. We work hard, we support each other, and we’re proud to make a real difference for pets, clients, and our community every single day.

Think of this role as the Swiss Army Knife of the veterinary world - you’ll do a little of everything, and it all matters. From client check-ins to blood draws, surgery paperwork to pep talks about preventive care, you’ll be the glue that keeps our team connected and our days running smoothly.

Client Service Responsibilities

  • Assist with client check-ins and check-outs, ensuring a positive, efficient, and compassionate experience.
  • Answer and triage phone calls, route messages, and manage appointment requests professionally and accurately.
  • Process payments, estimates, and invoices with attention to detail.
  • Handle prescription refill requests, coordinating with the medical team for timely approval and preparation.
  • Educate clients on services, preventive care, and wellness plan options.
  • Maintain lobby cleanliness and organization, creating a welcoming environment for clients and pets.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Review and complete surgery and treatment paperwork accurately prior to procedures.
  • Check in and organize inventory orders; restock and maintain supply areas.
  • Assist with medical record documentation and digital file organization.
  • Support hospital management with communication, scheduling, and special projects as needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Help identify workflow efficiencies or client experience improvements.

Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities

  • Prepare exam rooms and assist with patient intake (history, weight, and presenting concerns).
  • Safely restrain dogs and cats for exams, treatments, and sample collection.
  • Collect blood, urine, fecal, and cytology samples as directed by the DVM or lead technician.
  • Assist with X-rays, laboratory tests, and basic diagnostic procedures.
  • Fill prescriptions, label medications accurately, and prepare preventive care products.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working area.

General Expectations

  • Maintain professionalism, empathy, and a positive attitude with clients and coworkers.
  • Be adaptable - comfortable shifting between client service, patient care, and administrative duties as needed.
  • Take initiative, seek opportunities for improvement, and contribute to a supportive team culture.
  • Uphold hospital policies, safety standards, and confidentiality at all times.

This role is best suited for someone who thrives on variety and enjoys having a hand in many areas - from client check-ins and patient handling to paperwork and organization. The ideal candidate stays calm under pressure, approaches challenges with a positive attitude, and genuinely cares about improving the day for both pets and people.
