Position Overview

Animal Hospital of Woodstock is seeking a motivated, dependable, and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team. This role supports our doctors and technicians in providing excellent patient care and client service throughout the hospital. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, works well in a team environment, communicates effectively, and is comfortable working in a busy veterinary setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient care and treatments
  • Safely restrain pets during exams, procedures, and treatments
  • Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas
  • Obtain patient histories and assist with client communication
  • Support surgical and dental procedures as directed
  • Perform cleaning and sterilization of equipment and hospital areas
  • Assist with laboratory sample collection and diagnostic testing
  • Maintain accurate patient records and treatment notes
  • Help stock supplies and maintain hospital organization
  • Provide compassionate care and support to patients and clients
  • Work collaboratively with the medical team to maintain efficient workflow and patient care standards

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous veterinary assistant or animal handling experience preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to safely handle and restrain dogs and cats of various sizes and temperaments
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn hospital software systems
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and strong work ethic
  • Passion for animal care and client service

Compensation & Benefits

Base Hourly Rate: $16.00 – $20.00/hour DOE

This position may also be eligible for:
