Job Description

 

Our busy animal hospital is looking for a mature individual to fill out our Veterinary Assistant team. In addition to helping our Veterinarians with patient care and during procedures, this team is responsible for monitoring hospitalized pets & caring for animals after surgery. But it’s not all playing with puppies and kitties! You’d also be responsible for cleaning & restocking exam rooms, washing and folding laundry, and cleaning/disinfecting cages, kennels, and hospital treatment areas. You’ll set up for and clean up after surgeries and dental procedures, and maintain and sterilize the surgical instruments & equipment.

We’re looking for people who are:

· Cheerful & friendly, who genuinely enjoy working with animals AND people

· Team Players! 

· Self-starters who can work unsupervised, hate to be bored and are always looking for the next thing that needs to be done.

· Good multi-taskers who thrive in fast-paced environments. Our Vet Assistants are regularly being pulled in several directions. You need to be able to jump from task to task without losing yourself.

· Punctual and dependable

· Able to walk or stand for extended periods; frequently works in a bent or squatting position.

· Experienced in the teamwork approach and works well with all levels of hospital team members.

· Able to lift 40 pounds on your own and walk up/down flights of stairs carrying 30-pound bags of food.

· Able to work 30-40 hours/week, with rotating Saturday shifts

· 18 years or older and have at least 1 year of customer service

This position starts at $13.50/hour, but higher pay will be considered for applicants with veterinary experience.
