Our AAHA accredited hospital offers high quality veterinary services in a modern facility, with in-house diagnostics, lab, pharmacy, digital xray, laser, surgery, acupuncture and much more! Our hospital focuses on quality, preventive medicine and comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care, in-house laboratory, pain management services, 24-hour nursing care and various boarding options for our fluffy feline friends.

Tasks include:

The veterinary assistant is the entire team's primary support. Every department relies on their significant role in aiding with a variety of services to provide excellent client and patient care.

 

Job Description Overview:

 

. Assist with patient care and treatment

 

. Monitor hospitalized pets / Monitor/aid in caring for animals after surgery

 

. Maintain inventory and stocking

 

. Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims

 

· Aiding with routine diagnostic tests (i.e. vital signs, radiographs, bloodwork, collecting samples)

 

· Maintain & sterilize surgical instruments/equipment

 

· Clean/Disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas of hospital

 

· Administering medications under Veterinarian/Vet Tech supervision

 

· Feeding/bathing animals

 

· Answering phones

 

· Customer service

 

· Helping clients with their pets

 

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education, and/or experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of of experience with veterinary appointments performing above duties; preferred.
  • Able to perform moderately physically demanding work, that requires a lot of lifting (up to 50 pounds), cleaning, and constant motion.
  • Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors.
  • Hourly wage strongly dependent on experience!

 

Job Type: Part-Time or Full-time

Education: High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience: Veterinary Technician experience preferred

Expected hours: Flexible Evenings & Weekends

The base hourly range for this position is $16-$18.  Our pay ranges are primarily determined by role, level and location.  The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience and relevant education or training.
