Job Overview:

Windhaven Veterinary Hospital is in Plano, TX, and is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our animal care team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play an important role in providing top-notch medical care and support to our patients. Duties:

- Assist veterinarians with medical procedures and surgeries, including animal catheterization and dog handling.
- Provide routine and specialized veterinary care, including pet care and grooming.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of animal treatments, test results, and medical histories.
- Perform laboratory tests, administer vaccinations, and monitor animal health.
- Collaborate with veterinarians to develop and implement treatment plans for patients.
- Handle and restrain animals safely and humanely.
- Assist with dog training and animal husbandry.
- Clean and maintain the hospital's equipment, kennels, and surgical areas.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest veterinary terminology and critical care techniques.

Experience:

- Preferred experience in training vet tech skills to other new Vet Assistance.

-Previous experience working in a veterinary hospital or clinic is preferred.
- Knowledge of animal anatomy is essential.
- Familiarity with dog training techniques is a plus.
- Ability to lift and move animals and equipment as needed.
- Experience with animal catheterization and animal husbandry is a significant asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once.
- Certification as a Veterinary Technician is not required, but a willingness to pursue certification is necessary.

Skills:

- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology.

-Experience in monitoring pets under Anesthesia and Surgical monitoring.
- Experience with veterinary critical care techniques.
- Ability to handle and restrain dogs safely and humanely.
- Understanding of animal anatomy and animal husbandry practices.
- Ability to perform animal catheterization.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once.
- A commitment to providing exceptional patient care and a passion for the well-being of animals.
