Seven Bends Veterinary Hospital seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team! Ideal candidates will genuinely enjoy working with animals and be able to provide compassionate care even when a patient is stressed, ill or in pain. 

 

We are a four-doctor practice with a state of the art facility in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. We provide exceptional care to our small animal patients five day per week, Monday - Friday with no weekends required. Job Description Overview:

· Customer service

· Answering phones as needed

· Helping clients with their pets

. Assisting Veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians and/or other Veterinary Assistants with patient care and treatment

. Humane restraint of patients

. Restocking exam rooms and treatment area

· Clean/Disinfect cages, exam rooms and treatment areas of hospital

· Feeding/bathing patients

· Entering charges for exams, treatments, medications, etc.

· Filling prescription orders

· Performing routine diagnostic tests (i.e. radiographs, in-house lab work, fecal flotation tests)

. Monitoring and aiding hospitalized patients and post-operative patients

· Cleaning, sterilization and preparation of surgical instruments/equipment

· Administering medications under Veterinarian and/or Veterinary Technician supervision

Qualifications:

· Must be 18+ years old

· Prefer 1+ years of experience working with animals or in the veterinary field

· Ability to meet the physical demands of the job - requires bending, lifting, restraining and carrying animals (ability to lift 40lbs on own)

. Walks or stands for extended periods or time

. Frequently works in a bent or squatting position
