Northwest Equine Veterinary Associates is a 100% ambulatory equine veterinary practice in search of a Veterinary Assistant for a busy multi-doctor practice. We are located in Black Diamond, WA. www.nwequinevet.com

Job Description Overview:

. Assist Veterinarian with equine patient care and treatment

. Prepare work truck for the day

. Maintain inventory and stocking

. Handle/restrain horses during exams, procedures, and emergencies

· Aiding with routine diagnostic tests (i.e. Taking radiographs, running bloodwork)

· Maintain & sterilize surgical instruments/equipment

· Clean/Disinfect truck, exam and treatment areas, maintain cleanliness of hospital

· Administering medications under Veterinarian supervision

 

Job Qualifications:

· Experienced horse handling skills (required) including trotting, lunging and safe handling of horses under sedation, with applicable reference

· Flexible working hours, including evening and weekend on-call rotation

· Ability to follow instruction and work under pressure in a team environment

· Dependable transportation and valid Washington State driver’s license

· Must be able to safely lift a minimum of 50 lbs

· Basic computer skills, ability to learn new software programs

· Strong attention to grammar and spelling

· Prior experience in veterinary medicine desirable but not required

· Must be 18yrs old or older

· Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain

· Ability to meet the physical demands of the job

. Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent or squatting position

. Is experienced in the teamwork approach and works well with all levels of hospital team members

     The base hourly range for this position is $18 - $22. Our pay ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
