Job Description

Job Summary:

Assist doctor and other hospital staff by care and cleaning of patients and facilities including completing patient treatments, assisting in surgery and all other animal care functions as well as other tasks involved in the operations of a veterinary hospital.

 

Job Description Overview:

The following is a list of essential job requirements. This list may be revised at any time and additional duties not listed here may be assigned as needed. Job functions and job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·         -Assist with patient care and treatment

·         -Monitor hospitalized pets / Monitor/aid in caring for animals after surgery

·        - Maintain inventory and stocking

·         -Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims

·         -Aiding with routine diagnostic tests (i.e. Taking radiographs, running bloodwork, reading fecal)

·         -Maintain & sterilize surgical instruments/equipment

·         -Clean/Disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas of hospital

·         -Administering medications under Veterinarian/Vet Tech supervision

·         -Feeding/bathing animals

·         -Answering phones

·         -Customer service

·         -Helping clients with their pets

 

Skills and Abilities Qualifications:

·         -Must be 18yrs old or older

·        -Previous experience or training/education working in a veterinary facility preferred.

·        -Must be friendly, outgoing, “people oriented.”

·         -Excellent communications skills.

·         -Must be capable of being cross-trained for front office receptionist duties that will be expected in the job.

·         -Telephone and computer skills are necessary.

·         -Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments and to accept change.

 

Compensation:

-The base hourly range for this position is $20.00 – $22.00. Our pay ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
