Position Overview

The Veterinary Assistant plays a vital role in daily clinic operations and is the primary support for the entire team. This position focuses on assisting veterinarians during examinations, ensuring patient safety through proper restraint, and delivering excellent patient and client care across departments.

This is a full-time position. Scheduled days and hours may vary based on hospital needs. Weekend availability is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures

  • Provide safe and effective animal restraint as needed

  • Support patient care and treatment duties

  • Maintain practical knowledge of clinic procedures and policies

  • Assist doctors and team members as needed across departments

  • Contribute to a positive, professional, and efficient clinic environment

Physical & Emotional Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

  • Ability to lift and move patients and equipment

  • Capability to handle the physical and emotional demands of veterinary medicine, including euthanasia

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to safely handle and control aggressive animals

  • Professional, courteous demeanor with clients and staff

  • Strong active listening, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

  • Effective time management, judgment, and decision-making abilities

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma required

  • Veterinary Assistant certification preferred

Compensation

  • Base hourly rate of $18.00 -$21.00 DOE
  • Eligible for Qyarterly team rewards bonus (where applicable)

Availability

 

  • Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

  • Saturday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
