Veterinary Criticalist

Mission Veterinary Emergency & Specialty

Job Description

Mission Veterinary Emergency and Specialty (MVES) is seeking a second residency-trained or board-certified critical care specialist.

Mission is a well-known Specialty hospital founded in 1993. We started the practice with a commitment to our RDVM’s, their clients, and pets.  We have not varied from that commitment.  Daily communication with RDVM’s and clients are the norm for our practice.  We work diligently to reinforce those interpersonal relationships that provide the cornerstone to our success. Our growth and success can be attributed to our commitment to our clients and referring veterinarians, collaboration and education.

Collaboration: Our ECC, internal medicine, and surgery departments work to create a seamless transition for case management.  The top priority is the best care for each patient.  That translates to cooperation between specialists to provide top-quality care.  Our criticalists have cage-side rounds each morning with interns and nursing staff.  These rounds offer direct interaction with the criticalist, keeping them in direct contact with cases.  Case transfers occur daily with direct communication between our specialists.

Education: Mission offers a rotating internship and a surgical internship.  We provide radiology rounds weekly for our interns, and our interns experience daily ICU rounds in the morning before specialists’ appointments.  Also, our interns have four formal presentations during the year. Our interns have successfully transitioned to private practice and residencies.  Most recently, our three interns placed into ECC residency (Milwaukee), dentistry residency (KC), and surgical internship (here at MVES).  We work hard to provide opportunities for each intern to reach their professional aspirations.

Make a Thriving Practice Stronger

Mission has grown into one of the most respected hospitals in the state. As we continue to strive for excellence, we need a criticalist to help us achieve our goals. How your impact will be felt at Mission

Catalyst for MVES growth – We have developed our ECC department into an integral part of the business.  The impact that criticalists have on our patient care has resulted in substantial growth in the hospital.  Our practice's expertise and innovation through criticalist intervention are good for patients, clients, RDVM’s, and other specialists in our hospital.  The collaborative effort between our specialists affords this substantial benefit.

Training and Development – You’ll have the opportunity to oversee both interns and to train new ER doctors. You need to be passionate about the development of others to make Mission a better practice.
