Job Description

At Massachusetts Equine Clinic our Externship Goal is for you to gain hands on experience with a wide variety of diagnostic and treatment disciplines. As an extern you will be exposed to a large variety of cases including medicine, surgery, acupuncture, and lameness exams. Our aim is to provide students with a realistic example of a successful ambulatory practice. 


Practice Type:

100% equine practice, primarily ambulatory with outpatient and inpatient exams and treatments performed in our clinic.


Facilities:

The clinic features a four-stall hospital and is equipped with digital radiography, endoscopy, gastroscopy, ultrasonography, shock wave therapy and power dental equipment. 


Case Load:

Primarily performance horses. The local horse population consists of dressage, eventing, show horses, and pleasure horses.

60% Lameness

20% Medicine

20% Surgery 


We are located in beautiful Uxbridge Massachusetts, but our practice covers not only southern Massachusetts but also northern Rhode Island. In addition, our practice is less than twenty minutes from the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, a major large animal referral center. 


Prerequisite – must be a student in a college of veterinary medicine.
